Are Veneers Painful?

Dr. Anthony Mobasser, a renowned cosmetic dentist in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, discusses any potential discomfort you may experience while receiving dental veneers.

A lot of people ask me, are getting veneers painful or not? To tell you the truth, okay, it depends when you come to the doctor, if there is any dentin exposed and if your bite or the function of your teeth are what we call occlusal trauma. Having said that, the best veneers are the ones that you rarely need any anesthetic because we remove the minimal, minimal amount of enamel, and we add to it a minimal, minimal amount of porcelain. So we are conserving as much of your tooth structure as possible.

So having said that, does the veneers cause any discomfort, or is it painful? Of course not. We want to do as little as possible as far as the preparation of the veneers. And we’re going to go ahead and fabricate the veneers that they’re ultra thin, so they don’t look thick and they don’t look fake.
