Full Mouth Reconstruction for Grinding | Before and After — Our patient traveled from Barcelona, Spain, seeking full mouth rehabilitation and relief from TMJ symptoms. She was missing both lateral incisors, with her canines naturally shifting into their place. Years of bruxism and grinding had worn her teeth down, leaving them short, small, and uneven. Her goal was to achieve a natural, harmonious smile.
The severe wear had caused her bite to collapse, reducing the vertical dimension between her nose and chin. To correct this, we needed to restore the entire mouth—especially the back teeth—to properly support the new length of her front teeth. Simply lengthening the front teeth without addressing the back would have resulted in functional problems.
Another challenge involved reshaping the canines to resemble lateral incisors and modifying the premolars to function as canines, while optimizing her bite for long-term stability.
After consultation, we first elevated her bite temporarily with temporary onlays to monitor her TMD symptoms. She returned to Barcelona during this three-month period. Once she adapted comfortably to the new bite, Dr. Mobasser completed her full mouth reconstruction over three visits in Los Angeles, using IV sedation administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist. She remained completely comfortable throughout, and ultra-thin veneers and onlays were fabricated to perfectly match her corrected bite.
Because of her grinding habit, Emax porcelain was selected for its superior strength and natural esthetics—outperforming both feldspathic and Zirconia materials. The final result was a beautifully proportioned, longer, and naturally radiant smile built to last.
