إلى متى تدوم قشرة الأسنان الخزفية؟

Dr. Anthony Mobasser, a renowned cosmetic dentist in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, discusses the longevity you can expect after receiving porcelain veneers.

A lot of people ask me, how many years do the veneers last? To tell you the truth, okay, it depends on who did the veneers. Number one, did they pay attention to your bite? Did they go ahead and use the exact protocol and the way to go ahead and bond that veneer to your tooth? Was there enamel exposed or was it dentin exposed?

All of these factors play a big role as far as how long your veneers will last. And of course, if your gums were taken care of before putting the veneers on or not, I have done some veneers that they have lasted right now for 38 years, and they do not need to be redone. There is after everybody ages, of course, and there is some recessions. That means that the gum has gone up on the upper teeth and has gone down on the lower teeth. However, my veneers that I do, I do it on a specific protocol.

I use the bonding material, which is a composite, and it’s not a runny material. So I make sure that, first of all, the function is doing well, the bite is doing well, and there’s no inflammation of the gums. So we make sure that after doing this, the protocol is strictly given to the patient of how to take care of them. Of course, it’s very important, according to the bacteria or your saliva, the doctor will go ahead and recommend maybe you should come in every six months or maybe even four months to maintain these veneers. Having said that, I think they can last a long, long time.

And American Dental Association is saying is about five to ten years. But if it’s done on the strict protocol that the veneers should be done, they will last you a lifetime.
